25 years of change on the Northshore Mining Railroad
The Northshore Mining Railroad is a 47 mile rail line that's located in scenic Northeastern Minnesota. This remote wilderness route is used to transport crude taconite ore from the mines at Babbitt to their processing plant and shipping port on the North Shore of Lake Superior at Silver Bay. This exciting program highlights their first 25 years of operation and features the diesel power eras of the Reserve Mining Company, Cyprus Northshore Mining and Cliffs Northshore Mining railroads. The show's NSM diesel power consists of: SW9, SW1200, SD9, SD18, SD28, GP9, GP40-2, SD40-2, SD40-3, SD9043MAC and GE ES44AC. Plus rail yard switching, tailings trains and great ship loading scenes at the ore dock in Silver Bay that feature four Great Lakes ships including: Middletown, Reserve, Edgar Speer and the American Mariner.
